Elke dinsdag ben ik voor het nieuws van 11 uur te gast in het KRO NCRV programma Spraakmakers op Radio 1 om actuele ontwikkelingen op het gebied van architectuur en stedelijk leven te bespreken. Deze week: steden wapenen zich tegen massatoerisme, zoals Venetië die poortjes naar de binnenstad heeft geplaatst.

Design in Milaan: Pronken met plastic

Op de Designweek in Milaan zijn ideeën belangrijker dan producten. Veel ontwerpers willen liever de problemen van de wereld oplossen, zoals de enorme hoeveelheden afval, dan de zoveelste stoel toevoegen. Producent Hans Lensvelt kocht voor zijn expositie ‘Nothing New’ bestaande meubels van zijn label op en presenteerde ze opnieuw; Billie van Katwijk maakte tassen van gelooide koeienmagen die anders worden weggegooid; Plastic Whale maakt designmeubels uit Amsterdamse grachtenplastic. TRACY·TV #48: Studio Drift, the making of the exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta, a.k.a. the Dutch design duo Studio Drift, are famous worldwide for their poetic works that mix technology with nature. They have their first solo exhibition in the Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam, from the 25th of April until 26th of August 2018, including well-known works such as Fragile Future, the Drifter, Shylight and Amplitude. Dutch journalist Tracy Metz got the chance to take a look at the making of the exhibition and interviewed Lonneke Gordijn.

Elke dinsdag ben ik voor het nieuws van 11 uur te gast in het KRO NCRV programma Spraakmakers op Radio 1 om actuele ontwikkelingen op het gebied van architectuur en stedelijk leven te bespreken. De expositie Places of Hope, onderdeel van Leeuwarden Culturele Hoofdstad, toont activisme dat ergens vóór is, in plaats van tegen. De problemen van deze tijd zijn uitdagingen die oproepen om onszelf opnieuw uit te vinden.

TRACY·TV #47: Oosterwold, an organic urbanism city

Oosterwold, in the province of Flevoland, Netherlands, is a pioneering place where urban development is (almost) all in the hands of the residents.This means that the residents will not only get control of their own homes but also of industry, roads and paths, green areas, water and public areas. I took a look in this practice of organic urbanism.
